Critics Sentiment

Jonathan's rehearsal and Sara's encounter with Lars escalate tensions
The film drops from its romantic peak during the initial courtship to its lowest point during the morally questionable wedding preparation sequences.
Serendipity starts strong with genuine chemistry and magical romance, but suffers in the middle act as critics found the protagonists' behavior toward their fiancés problematic. The film recovers with a satisfying romantic conclusion that most reviewers found touching despite the contrived journey.
