The film starts promisingly with an intriguing Graduate connection and MacLaine's strong performance, but rapidly deteriorates when the central romance between Aniston and Costner fails completely. While MacLaine provides consistent highlights and the ending offers conventional closure, the middle act's creepy romantic premise and lack of chemistry between leads creates the film's biggest problems.
