The film crashes from its promising mystery setup to a widely reviled ending, dropping nearly 4 points from the early intrigue to the final resolution
Lost Souls begins with modest promise as a religious horror mystery, generating some initial intrigue with its exorcism premise and code-breaking elements. However, the film steadily loses audience goodwill through sluggish pacing, unconvincing character motivations, and increasingly silly plot developments. The climax and ending were universally condemned by reviewers as anticlimactic and deeply unsatisfying, with many citing it as one of the most disappointing conclusions they had ever witnessed.
