Every Which Way but Loose
Philo Beddoe is your regular, easygoing, truck-driving guy. He's also the best bar-room brawler west of the Rockies. And he lives with a 165-pound orangutan named Clyde. Like other guys, Philo finally falls in love - with a flighty singer who leads him on a screwball chase across the American Southwest. Nothing's in the way except a motorcycle gang, some cops, and legendary brawler Tank Murdock.

Echo fires two shots into beef to ensure Philo gets paid after slaughterhouse fight
Lynn reveals her shallow and callous nature to Philo after betraying him
A major drop from the entertaining slaughterhouse sequence to Lynn's character revelation, reflecting reviewer criticism of the romance subplot's tonal mismatch with the comedy.
Reviewers found the film to be a surprisingly enjoyable light comedy that worked best when focused on the Eastwood-orangutan dynamic and the motorcycle gang antics. The bare knuckle fighting elements and character interactions were consistently praised, while the romance subplot with Sondra Locke was widely criticized as out of place. Most critics acknowledged it as silly but endearing entertainment that succeeded through its relaxed, fun-loving approach.
