Newly engaged, Ben and Sadie can't wait to start their life together and live happily ever after. However Sadie's family church's Reverend Frank won't bless their union until they pass his patented, "foolproof" marriage prep course consisting of outrageous classes, outlandish homework assignments and some outright invasion of privacy.

License to Wed starts promisingly with a likable romantic setup but quickly devolves into predictable sitcom-level humor anchored by Robin Williams' creepy rather than charming minister character. The film struggles throughout its middle section with invasive and unbelievable scenarios before recovering slightly with its Jamaica setting and conventional happy ending. Most reviewers found it forgettable and formulaic despite a few scattered laughs.
