Beast starts promisingly with beautiful cinematography and decent setup, building genuine tension as the lion threat emerges. However, the film deteriorates significantly in its middle and final acts due to frustratingly stupid character decisions and an absurd climax where Idris Elba literally fights a lion. While some critics appreciated it as mindless entertainment with Elba's solid performance, most found the poor CGI, weak dialogue, and incredulous plot choices too distracting to overlook.
