Babe
Babe is a little pig who doesn't quite know his place in the world. With a bunch of odd friends, like Ferdinand the duck who thinks he is a rooster and Fly the dog he calls mum, Babe realises that he has the makings to become the greatest sheep pig of all time, and Farmer Hoggett knows it. With the help of the sheep dogs, Babe learns that a pig can be anything that he wants to be.
Critics Sentiment
Hoggett tells Babe That'll do Pig That'll do
Duchess the cat tells Babe that humans eat pigs
The film's biggest emotional swing occurs from Duchess revealing Babe's fate as food (5.2) to the triumphant competition finale (8.8), representing Babe's journey from despair to ultimate vindication.
Babe follows a classic underdog arc that resonates strongly with audiences despite some darker moments. The film begins charmingly with Babe's arrival at the farm and builds through various adventures and setbacks, hitting its emotional low point when Babe learns his ultimate fate as food. However, it recovers brilliantly for a triumphant finale that critics universally praised as emotionally satisfying and perfectly executed.
