Review Sentiment
Kidd reads coal mine story instead of Farley's propaganda
Wagon crashes and horses are fatally injured on steep road
The film peaks with Kidd's defiant propaganda reading scene, then drops significantly during the repetitive wagon crash sequence before recovering for the emotional finale.
News of the World maintains steady audience appreciation throughout most of its runtime, anchored by strong performances from Hanks and Zengel. While some reviewers found the pacing slow and certain sequences repetitive, most praised the unique historical setting, beautiful cinematography, and the emotional core of the father-daughter relationship that develops between the leads.
