22 Jump Street
After making their way through high school (twice), big changes are in store for officers Schmidt and Jenko when they go deep undercover at a local college. But when Jenko meets a kindred spirit on the football team, and Schmidt infiltrates the bohemian art major scene, they begin to question their partnership. Now they don't have to just crack the case - they have to figure out if they can have a mature relationship. If these two overgrown adolescents can grow from freshmen into real men, college might be the best thing that ever happened to them.
Critics Sentiment
End credits show fictional future Jump Street sequels and spin-offs
Schmidt and Jenko drift apart as college life divides them
The film jumps from the relationship low point of Schmidt and Jenko growing apart (6.2) to the revelation that Maya is Dickson's daughter (8.7), a 2.5 point swing driven by what critics called one of the funniest moments in the film.
Critics found 22 Jump Street to be a surprisingly successful sequel that managed to recapture the humor of the original while adding self-aware meta-commentary about sequels. The film maintains strong comedic momentum throughout, with particular praise for the chemistry between Hill and Tatum, though some noted predictable plot elements in the middle act. The consensus was overwhelmingly positive, with many reviewers calling it funnier than the original and praising its clever approach to sequel conventions.
