California Suite
The misadventures of four groups of guests at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
Review Sentiment
Diana and Sidney's marriage of convenience is revealed through drinking
Dr Gump and Dr Panama engage in violent physical comedy
The film plummets from Diana's brilliant drunken revelations to the embarrassing Pryor-Cosby slapstick violence
California Suite receives mixed reception with critics universally praising Maggie Smith and Michael Caine's witty Oscar storyline while finding the Pryor-Cosby physical comedy segment painfully unfunny. The Matthau hooker farce and Fonda-Alda custody drama land somewhere in between, creating an uneven anthology that succeeds on star power but fails to maintain consistent quality across all four stories.
