Review Sentiment
Joe Willie and Albert rob the bank disguised as Rat Pack
Albert Willie and Joe attempt shoplifting at grocery store
The film jumps from the awkward grocery store shoplifting sequence to the engaging heist preparation, gaining nearly 1.5 points as critics appreciated the shift from forced comedy to clever plotting.
Critics found Going in Style to be a professionally competent but unremarkable comedy elevated by the charismatic chemistry of its three veteran leads. The film starts modestly with setup and stumbles slightly during forced comedy sequences, but builds momentum through clever heist planning and execution. While not groundbreaking or hilarious, reviewers consistently praised it as enjoyable comfort food cinema with genuine heart.
