Review Sentiment
Demonic King Stargher manifests and dominates the twisted dreamscape
Carl Stargher succumbs to schizophrenia during FBI raid and enters coma
The film jumps from Stargher falling into a coma (removing immediate threat) to Catherine's stunning first entry into his twisted psyche, gaining nearly 3 points as visuals take center stage
The Cell receives praise as a visual masterpiece with stunning surreal imagery and nightmarish dreamscapes that critics universally acclaimed. However, reviewers consistently noted that the spectacular style overshadowed weaker story elements, including underdeveloped characters and plot conveniences. The film succeeds as eye candy and psychological horror but falls short of greatness due to its substance not matching its remarkable visual artistry.
