The New Blood starts promisingly with an atmospheric setup and Kane Hodder's intimidating new Jason design earning praise from critics. However, the film suffers from weak character development, censored kills, and repetitive slasher formula execution. While the telekinetic finale provides genuine thrills and the unmasking scene delivers spectacular effects, the inexplicable ghost father ending completely undermines any goodwill built up during the climax.
