Mortal Kombat: Annihilation
A group of heroic warriors has only six days to save the planet in "Mortal Kombat Annihilation." To succeed they must survive the most spectacular series of challenges any human, or god, has ever encountered as they battle an evil warlord bent on taking control of Earth.
Critics Sentiment
Sonya and Jax escape and defeat the cyborg Cyrax
Shao Kahn kills Rayden with an energy blast
The film crashes from its modest peak during the Cyrax fight (4.2) to one of its lowest points during the failed Outworld infiltration (2.3), a drop of 1.9 points.
Mortal Kombat: Annihilation starts poorly and generally declines throughout its runtime, with reviewers consistently criticizing the recasting of major characters, terrible special effects, and incoherent plotting. While a few action sequences in the middle portion received mild praise from fans of the franchise, the film's finale with the widely-mocked dragon transformation represents the nadir of the video game adaptation genre. The consensus among critics was that this sequel destroyed what goodwill the original had built.
