BASEketball
Two losers from Milwaukee, Coop and Remer, invent a new game combining basketball with the rules of baseball. When the game becomes a huge success, they, along with a billionaire's help, form the Professional Baseketball League where everyone gets the same pay and no team can change cities. When a rival owner wants to institute major rule changes, Coop and Remer's team is the only one standing in the way.
Critics Sentiment
Squeak gives impassioned speech to reunite Coop and Remer
Child labor scandal threatens team and Jenna's foundation
Sharp drop from friendship conflicts to child labor scandal (5.5 to 5.2), followed by major recovery during Squeak's emotional speech (5.2 to 7.8)
BASEketball starts strong with clever sports satire and the inventive central premise, maintaining solid comedy through the first half. The film stumbles in the middle act when dramatic elements and darker themes overshadow the silly humor that works best, before recovering with an emotionally satisfying climax that balances heart with comedy.
